WHERE DOES LMUSAR RESPOND? LMUSAR is currently a local and regional response asset with the primary area of response being Louisville Metro and the surrounding Counties
WHEN DOES LMUSAR RESPOND? LMUSAR will typically respond when an emergency incident is beyond the capabilities of local emergency response agencies. The team will respond whenever a request is made through local 911 Centers or through local, regional, or state emergency management channels.
WHY WAS LMUSAR STARTED? It was started to provide Louisville Metro and the surrounding counties with a USAR response capability which had not been previously developed by any single agency. All agencies within Metro Louisville recognized the value and practicality of a joint multi- agency team.
WHO CAN JOIN LMUSAR? LMUSAR is accepting applications from individuals who live in Louisville Metro or one of the surrounding Counties. Individuals must have training appropriate for the position that they are applying for. All positions require:
- NIMS IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, IS-800
- Haz Mat Awareness & Operations Level Training
- Swiftwater Awareness Level Training
Confined Space, Structural Collapse, Rope, and Trench Training at the Technician Level is preferred, but is not mandatory to apply.
